BTEC Higher National Certificate in Health and Social Care Management

HNC – Higher National Certificate
This programme of study has been developed with contributions from employers, Healthcare professionals and students along guidelines of statutory UK authorities in the Healthcare sector. Students successfully completing the course can expect to progress their education in a wide range of specialist areas in Healthcare. 


What are the career prospects?

Students are able to apply for jobs in junior roles in areas such as medical notes, caretaking in nursing homes and various other administrative functions. Students can also progress onto the Diploma course towards a degree in Healthcare Management or pursue professional training courses, in disciplines such as nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy or physiotherapy.

Entry requirements

 Have four GCSE/GCE/SCEs, one of which should be in English and one in a Maths subject at grade A, B or C (for  Overseas students grades 1 to 6 credits/distinctions are considered equivale nt) 

OR

 Have intermediate HSC pass with good grades  

OR

 Applicants of 18 years of age or more may be admitted at the discretion of the college, foregoing minimum entry requirements, provided they can satisfy the college that they are sufficiently motivated.

BTEC Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care Management

HND – Higher National Diploma

This course builds on the knowledge and skills learnt during the Certificate programme, providing advanced preparation for those who wish to pursue for care management and administrative posts in healthcare services. The course focuses on human resources, financial, political, cultural, economic, ethical, industrial, technological and psycho-social aspects of healthcare.   

What are the career prospects? 

Students can apply for various jobs in the healthcare industry such as healthcare analysts, healthcare planners and management or administrative oriented roles. The diploma also enables candidates to enter professional training at advanced levels in areas such as nursing, midwifery or professions allied to medicine such as occupational therapy or physiotherapy.
