Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) was founded in 1980 to provide a recognized qualification and membership body for accounting support staff. It is sponsored by various UK accountancy bodies.
How long does it take?
It takes two years to complete all three stages of the course and become aat qualified.
Entry requirements
You must be 18 or older. You need a secondary or school qualification. You must complete the English foundation programme at cstc. Achieving at least 55 per cent.
Membership
Once you have achieved the AAT qualification and gained the relevant experience, you will be eligible for full membership of the AAT.This entitles you to use the letters 'MAAT' after your name. AAT offers a high level of support and training throughout your career.
Course Structure
The AAT training scheme consists of 20 units of competence organized into three stages. Students must complete a number of compulsory units, while other units are optional.
The three stages are accredited as national vocational qualifications (NVQs) in accounting, which are equivalent to a uk degree.
FOUNDATION STAGE - NVQ LEVEL 2
RIR recording income &receipts. MRP making & recoding payment ITB preparing an initial trial balance. IMC supplying information for management control. WWC working with computers. HSPWE contribute to the maintenance of a healthy APE achieving personal effectiveness. safe & productive working environment.
INTERMEDIATE STAGE-NVQ/SVQ LEVEL 3
ECR recording and evaluating cost information FRA maintaining financial records & preparing accounts. PRR preparing reports & returns. WWC working with computers(unless completed earlier). WWC working with computers. HSPWE contribute to the maintenance of a healthy safe& productive working environment(unless completed earlier)
TECHNICIAN-NVQ LEVEL 4
PEV contribute to the management of performance and the enhancement of value. PCR contributing to the planning & allocation of resources. MSAP managing systems & people in the accounting environment CMCC cash management & credit control. IAP implementing auditing procedures. BTC preparing business taxation computations. PTC preparing personal taxation computations. HSPWE contribute to the maintenance of a healthy safe &productive working environment(unless completed earlier).
