Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

 

About ACCA

The ACCA is the largest and fastest-growing international accountancy body in the world.

ACCA members render their professional services in industry, financial services, the public sector, or in public practice. In order to become a member of the ACCA, students need to complete written examinations and three (3) years work experience obtained before, during, or after examinations.

How to register

Registration can take place at any time, however if you wish to take part in specific paper-based examination sessions, the following deadlines apply:

For the June examinations
Register by 31 December of the preceding year

For the December examinations
Register by 15 August of the same year

Register by post

You can register as a student with ACCA by completing an application form and sending it to us. This is how you do it:
  1. Request an information pack and registration form to be sent to you in the post. Use the online order form below, or telephone us
  2. When you have received the form, complete it and prepare your appropriate supporting documentation (proof of qualifications etc)
  3. Return it to our office in your country (see our national office network). If your country is not listed, send the form to ACCA in the UK

Register online

An easy way to register as a student with ACCA is by doing it online. This is how you do it:
  1. Complete our online Registration Form
  2. Print out and complete the ACCA Declaration Sheet, and enclose it with appropriate supporting documentation (proof of qualifications etc)
  3. Return it to our office in your country (see our national office network). If your country is not listed, send the form to ACCA in the UK
  4. You will be allocated a unique reference number by e-mail. Please keep a note of this reference number as you can use it to track your application on the web.
You can now register online for the new ACCA Qualification and be eligible to sit your first exams in December 2007.

ACCA New Syllabus

ACCA has introduced a new syllabus and this will be examined from the December 2007 exam sitting. All students on the old syllabus will be converted automatically to the new syallabus by ACCA.

The new syllabus is divided into two levels: the fundamental level and the profesional level.

Fundamental Level

The fundamental level is divided into two modules - knowledge and skills. Module F1-F3 are categorised as Knowledge Modules and F4 - F5 are categorised as Skills Modules.


Professional level

The profesional level is composed of two Modules - Essential (P1 -P3) and Options (P4 -P7). The essential level is compulsory and students Must choose two out of the four optional papers. The individual units are listed in Foundation Level and Professional Level.


Entry Requirements

The ACCA offers several entry routes to students which take into account different qualifications and recognition of your prior achievements. Professional Examination Route (PER)

For entry to ACCA's Qualification, a student must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the criteria below:
  • 2 A levels and 3 GCSEs (5 separate subjects including English and
    Mathematics).
  • BTEC National Certificate any subject,
  • NVQ Level 3/4 (any subject) and Advanced GNVQ (any subject)
  • CAT Papers T1 - T5
  • AAT (UK) Intermediate (Complete)
  • A degree (from a recognised institution in any subject)
  • ACCA Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance or
  • Diploma in Financial Management (complete).


Professional Examination Route (PER)

For entry to ACCA's Professional Qualification, a student must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the criteria below:
  • 2 A levels and 3 GCSEs (5 separate subjects including English
    and Mathematics).
  • BTEC National Certificate any subject,
  • NVQ Level 3/4 (any subject) and Advanced GNVQ (any subject)
  • CAT Papers T1 - T5
  • AAT (UK) Intermediate (Complete)
  • A degree (from a recognised institution in any subject)
  • ACCA Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance or Diploma
    in Financial Management (complete)


Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)

For entry via the MSER you must be over 21 years old. You must also pass Paper M2 (equivalent to Paper F2 and F3) within two years from the date of first eligible ACCA examination session. You will then be able to transfer to the main student register.

Exemptions:

Exemptions are concessions granted by the Associations removing the need for students to sit certain ACCA examinations. Exemptions may be granted by The ACCA on the basis of prior qualifications. No exemption is allowed for Professional level. In order to obtain exemptions, students must:
  • Get Registered with the ACCA,
  • Send official proof of any relevant qualifications to the ACCA in order for them (ACCA) to assess your eligibility.
